Planes, Ferries, and Automobiles to El Nido

I was heading to El Nido today via Cebu, so when I got up I started getting my things together and thats when I noticed for the first time that my room had a TV.

I knew today's journey would first require a ferry to Cebu and then a plane to El Nido, I was just a little unsure of the schedule because of the weather. So after breakfast I had the hotel take me to the ferry dock to scope things out. There was room on the 8:30am ferry so I got a ticket for it. I then continued on to purchase additional add-ons. For example, I really wanted to bring my bags with me so that was another 100 Pesos. Then I wanted to walk through the terminal so that I could board the ferry, which cost me another 20 Pesos. I finally made it aboard and saw that they also loaded my bags.

It was raining but still a fairly smooth hour and a half ride to Cebu. It would have been nice to stand outside and take in the views but I was stuck inside watching How to Train your Dragon 2 on the boats TV screens. It also turned out that there was plenty of room on the 8:30am ferry.

I got to Cebu and found a cab from the dock to the airport, about 30 minutes away.

I checked the board and it looks like the next flight was in about three hours, so I had 30 minutes before I could get a ticket. I killed some time by trying another one of those selfie deals.

Once I got through security I was treated to a little bit of home. If they have a Seattle's Best I wonder if they also have a Redhook or Pyramid? Actually, I'm happy to settle for a San Miguel.

I boarded the plane and it was another hour and half to get to El Nido. The runway at El Nido made the runway at Bohol look like you could have landed a 747 there.

Everything was manual here, your luggage and yourself was transported to the wicker hut via Jeepney.

I thought our landing was rough, but that was before I saw this plane.

It was too late in the day to make it to Apulit Island so I would be spending the night at the El Nido Cove Resort. I contacted them to pick me up at the airport as they were only about five minutes away. About an hour later they showed up. The resort had great views and a nice outside bar, but that was about it.

I had a bed, a pillow, and single sheet. I took a shower and while I did not have to stand in a puddle, the bottom of the shower was not properly sealed. So by the time I was finished, water covered the entire bathroom floor. But it was only for one night, so I wrapped myself up in the sheet and drifted off to sleep.
